What onions look like when they are dirty. Dirty onions are not one of the seven types of onion though as all of the seven types can be found dirty. This can either be because they have just come out of the ground or if you go into your garden and rub some mud into them, then they will be dirty too. You have to clean them before eating though. Soil can harbour clostridium perfringens.
